Practical nursing education enables the student to acquire principles and knowledge from the biological and behavioral sciences as well as the science of nursing. This knowledge forms the basis for utilizing the nursing process in the field of practical nursing. Concurrent integration of theory into clinical practice is an important aspect of practical nursing education.
Practical nursing education prepares the graduate to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) for practical nursing. Practical nursing diploma program graduates prepared to seek entry-level positions as members of a health care team in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health, and a variety of other health care areas.
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is an essential member of the healthcare team. Working with and under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, LPNs may be found assisting doctors during rounds, explaining procedures and treatments to patients, taking patient vital signs, giving injections, helping patients bathe and get dressed, changing bandages, maintaining an on-going assessment of patient health, and much more.
During the Practical Nursing program at Ross, we know that it's not only important, but necessary to get you out of the classroom and into real healthcare facilities, practicing your skills. That's why we include clinical experience that gets our students into a variety of clinics, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and more to get real-world patient experience with other healthcare professionals.
After a student has successfully completed the Practical Nursing program at Ross, they must register for and pass the NCLEX-LPN in order to be a Licensed Practical Nurse and able to practice nursing in a healthcare facility.
My experience at Ross has been nothing but positive. From the day that I first expressed interest, all the way through to the externship experience, Ross has provided me with an outstanding training of my chosen field. The small class size and differentiated instruction has allowed me to feel more than prepared to enter in to the medical coding and billing field.

Ross opened up a whole new world for me. I am warmly welcomed every morning with a smile and everyone here makes me feel like this is where I should be. All of the staff and instructors want to see me and the other students succeed, which creates such a positive environment. The program has changed me a lot. I learned to be more professional. I've learned a lot and I watched myself make progress, from getting better grades to having a better and more professional attitude, as well as understanding situations better. It also expanded my knowledge about the medical field. I recommend the program if you are looking to go into the medical field, I think it's a good start.
