Every year during the month of July and the first part of August, Ross Medical Education Center in Cincinnati collects school supplies to help local young students in need. This year they were very fortunate to partner with another area organization, Genex Services, LLC, to collect the school supplies. Genex Services was founded in 1978, and they are the nation’s leading provider of integrated managed care services focusing on three critical areas:
- Workers’ Compensation and Disability Management
- Medical Cost Containment
- Social Security Representation
This year’s school supply drive was a huge success. By the end of it, they were able to collect nearly 600 items to support local students and families as they prepare to return to school for another year. Ross Medical Education Center Cincinnati campus and Genex Services, LLC donated all of the school supply items to an after school program for inner city youth at the local YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. “What a great idea to help the children in need,” shared Stephanie Perkins, Dental Assistant student. “I’m glad I was able to participate!” Courtney Miller, another Dental Assistant student, agreed, “it felt great to help someone in need.”
The campus loved working with Angela Houston, RN, CCM, Manager with Genex Services and Lonzell R. Hill at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. They were also blown away by the support and participation of their staff, faculty, and especially their students. There was a friendly competition between program classrooms, but in the end the morning Dental Assistant and Pharmacy Technician classes were the winners! Meko Roberts and Ryan Rugg, both Pharmacy Technician students, said of the drive, “we were so happy to help students in need. Giving them tools to help them succeed in school and continue to reach for their dreams.” The campus looks forward to partnering with the YMCA again soon.
