The Ross Medical Education Center campus in Port Huron is proud to shine a spotlight on Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration (MIBOA) Instructor, Jennifer Sater. Mrs. Sater has been a valued faculty member of our Ross team since 2008. After graduating from Ross as a Medical Assistant in 2005 and gaining experience in her field, she began her career at Ross as a Teaching Assistant and Substitute Teacher. In May of 2009, Mrs. Sater was granted the opportunity to begin instructing her own classroom. She eagerly accepted the position. She realized quickly in her role as a MIBOA Instructor that teaching was a great passion in her life. By July of 2014, Mrs. Sater committed to instructing her classroom full-time, teaching both side A and side B of MIBOA.
Recently, Mrs. Sater accomplished a personal goal by successfully passing her Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam. Becoming a certified Billing and Coding Specialist often grants more opportunities for graduates in the job market, a higher pay scale, and increased subject matter expertise. Mrs. Sater recognizes the importance of this certification and encourages each of her students to do the same as they approach their externship. She proved to her students that becoming certified is not only attainable, but an essential piece of securing their future.
Mrs. Sater has had plenty of achievements that make her well-rounded in her field. Her Ross graduation was just the beginning of her quest to further her education. Mrs. Sater continued to work diligently at her education for two years and earned her Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Health Information Technology from Saint Clair County Community College in May of 2014. She also earned her credentials as a Registered Medical Assistant and Allied Health Instructor through the American Medical Technologists.
Mrs. Sater is a great resource for her students and makes it a priority to be accessible. She believes in teaching styles that work for all students and encourages exercises that highlight critical thinking. She finds great inspiration through her students and is always excited to hear their stories of success. It is her hard work, dedication to her students, and positive attitude toward fellow staff members that make Mrs. Sater an esteemed colleague to all.
