This December, Ross Medical Education Center in New Baltimore decided to partner with the American Red Cross to extend their holiday greetings beyond their own families and friends. Ross students, staff, and faculty from the Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration, Dental Assistant, Veterinary Assistant, and Pharmacy Technician programs were excited to be able to create greeting cards and ship them out this holiday season to military men and women who have served for our country and our freedom.
The staff, faculty, and students saw this not as a task or obligation, but rather a privilege. The Ross students in New Baltimore were very happy to have the chance to give back during this holiday season. Over four hundred holiday cards were completed in this effort and many of the New Baltimore students were thrilled when given this opportunity! Olivia, a Ross student, said “sending these cards to our local veterans warmed my heart to know that I can possibly put a smile on someone’s face!” Another student, Tia, agreed, “Not only is giving back such an important part of being in a community, but this is a special time when family and friends come together to celebrate the holidays. I enjoyed personally lifting someone’s spirits during this season!”
These special holiday cards were sent out to the American Red Cross Association, and from there, the heartfelt cards were sent to local veterans! One of the students, Kim, looks forward to sending out cards again in the future saying, “I think it was a great opportunity to let our local veterans know that someone took the time out of their day to make them feel special.” The campus plans to continue this great tradition of honoring service men and women.
