The staff and students at Ross Medical Education Center in New Baltimore, Michigan know that children need a hospital with specialists and experts that are focused on them. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan was established over 125 years ago and now offers more than 40 specialties. As the first and largest hospital in Michigan, their goal is to train pediatric experts and provide the best care they can for the kids that come through their doors.
This vision that Children’s Hospital of Michigan holds inspired Ross in New Baltimore to team up with Detroit Police Department’s Crime Intelligence Unit in order to give back to the community. A Children’s Character Band-Aid Drive was the event that had the focus of these two organizations for the entire month of September. All items donated were given to Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Now when a young child gets a Band-Aid from the facility, they may feel a little better knowing their favorite cartoon character is on the bandage.
“Being able to give back to the community, specifically for children, means so much to the police officers of Detroit. We were excited to participate in this fun event and partner with Ross Medical Education as well,” said Sergeant Kari Sloan, DPD. By the end of the drive, over 225 boxes of children’s character Band-Aids were collected and donated to Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Christine Willer, Office Assistant at Ross in New Baltimore, shared, “I had so much fun shopping for the character Band-Aids! I can only hope it gives the children just as much joy as it gave me.”
The Children’s Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) is among the best in the country in eight pediatric specialties according to the new U.S. News & World Report for 2015-16.
