This fall, during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Roosevelt Park, Michigan campus of Ross Medical Education Center once again had the opportunity to partner with Mercy Health in Muskegon. This time, they got to be a part of their Lakeshore Mammogram Party and Community Health Fair. Mercy Health Comprehensive Breast Center arranged the fun and informative health fair and party and invited the Ross Roosevelt Park staff, students, and faculty to join in on the festivities.
This year’s Lakeshore Mammogram Party and Community Health Fair included a live DJ, face painting, carnival games, food, prizes, manicures, and palm scanning. There were also free health screenings for the community provided by the Health Project. The Ross Roosevelt Park Campus Director Lisa Picard, Assistant Campus Director of Education Rhiannon Daszko, and Clinical Instructor Guilianna Defilippi from the Ross Medical Assistant program were proud to represent Ross at this awesome event.
Although they were part of representing Ross and their campus, they made time to enjoy learning and having fun during the event. They were able to connect with other local residents and be a part of the community aspect of the day. They were honored to be a small piece of a powerful opportunity offered by Mercy Health to the community.
Everyone in attendance had a great time and learned a lot. “It was great to be a community partner with Mercy Health and have Ross represented with our breast cancer awareness t-shirts,” shared Campus Director Lisa Picard. “We were able to educate the public on the programs available and talk more about what Ross has to offer. There were also graduates working there which was great to see as well.”
One of the things that the Roosevelt Park Ross campus is most proud of is their positive impact on their students, their graduates, and the larger community. This event showcased their commitment to their community and to healthcare.
