The Ross Medical Education Center Saginaw, Michigan campus has enjoyed the opportunity to partner with North Saginaw Charter Academy on many occasions. A few of the incredible ways that they get to work with them throughout the year are during February’s Children’s Dental Health Month, October’s Trunk or Treat, August’s Build a Backpack, and a variety of other activities. Mrs. Rezmer stated, “It is always a pleasure to work with North Saginaw Charter Academy.” Many of the other staff and faculty members as well as students expressed similar sentiments, always enjoying their time with the students and staff of North Saginaw Charter Academy.
Mr. Tyler Meisel, one of North Saginaw Charter Academy’s deans, approached Mrs. Rezmer to thank Ross students for all that they do for their students. Mr. Meisel shared that he appreciates that the Ross Dental Assistant program students come over to teach the second graders how to properly brush their teeth and pass out toothbrushes. He then mentioned that some of the students may not already own their own toothbrushes and stated that several kids in the past had needed toothpaste and deodorant as well.
North Saginaw Charter Academy has approximately 560 students, and many of the students are from low income families that work hard to make sure their families are taken care of, but that aren’t always able to provide everything without a little support. “This was enough information to get our students to assist in a community service event to collect these items for the kids,” said Campus Director Ginger Rezmer. “The Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration class had a lot of fun taking the boxes over to the kids and passing the items out. Ms. Julie stated that her students were thrilled and thankful that they helped and it was so worth seeing the kids smile with joy at receiving their very own toothbrush.”
