Recently, the students, staff, and faculty at Ross Medical Education Center in Saginaw had the opportunity to assist North Saginaw Charter Academy (NSCA) by participating in their first annual Trunk or Treat event. Several community businesses such as the Saginaw YMCA, Girl Scouts, Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office, Keiven Trombley’s Meemic office, U.S Army, Extreme Dance Arts, and others gave their support as well.
North Saginaw Charter teachers and staff invited Ross and the representatives from various other area businesses to dress in costumes, decorate their trunks, and pass out candy. The kids trick-or-treated from trunk to trunk in a line-up of vehicles parked in the parking lot of North Saginaw Charter Academy. The campus’ evening Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration students came over to assist in handing out candy to the kids and sharing a little more about Ross with the adults.
In addition to the trick-or-treating, North Saginaw Charter Academy provided a haunted school bus, hotdogs, and popcorn. This event was a huge success with an overwhelming turnout of around 300 or 400 kids! In fact, it was so successful that people had to leave to get more candy because the businesses were running out!
The Saginaw campus partners regularly with North Saginaw Charter Academy on various events ranging from an annual school supply drive to “Meet the Heroes” with other activities throughout the year to help our community. Breeann Korpal, Saginaw Dental Assistant Instructor, shared, “The dental students love going over to the North Saginaw Charter Academy once a year for Children’s Dental Health Month. It is a great opportunity not only for my students to teach the kids, but for the kids to learn good oral health practices. We have a lot of fun.” As the holiday season draws nearer, Ross Medical Education Center has decided to again partner with North Saginaw Charter Academy to support Operation Care Package Michigan.
