Monday, September 29th marked the tenth anniversary for Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration Instructor Rebecca Jackson of the Ross Medical Education Center Flint campus. She began her career with Ross in 2004 teaching the Thursday and Friday morning Medical Assistant class, back when the Flint campus was located on Gilbert Street. Shortly after, she was asked to teach the Medical Assistant class two more days a week and immediately agreed. As the years went by, she transitioned to teaching the Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration class.
Rebecca Jackson holds an Associate’s degree in Medical Office Administration. She worked for years as an Administrative Assistant in a busy family practice office, as well as a paraprofessional in community mental health. In 2007 she applied to be an Allied Health Instructor through the American Medical Technologists and was accepted. She earned the credentials of Certified Medical Office Manager during her employment with Ross. “I cannot thank Ross enough for tuition, credentialing, and continuing education reimbursement! I would not be the medical professional I am today without Ross’ support.” Rebecca went on to earn the credentials of Certified Billing and Coding Specialist as well, and encourages her billing and coding students to strive for the CBCS certification after completing their Ross education.
The evening Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration students surprised Ms. Jackson with a potluck to celebrate her decade as a Ross instructor. Each student shared something amusing that she has shared with them and that they will never forget. She was truly touched that the evening students remembered this important milestone in her career. “I definitely plan on teaching at Ross for another decade!” Rebecca said over and over again that night. “Thank you, Flint evening Medical Insurance Billing and Office Administration students, for showing your compassion, dedication, and professionalism! You will make wonderful billing and coding specialists in the future!”
